Come out of the closet!

Dick Hilker has noticed that political party identity isn't hip any more. He surveyed 70 official Web pages of candidates running in three of the largest counties surrounding Denver.
Only seven put in big type that they are Democrats or members of the GOP.

Fifty-one (count 'em) made no mention of party. And a dozen made some kind of reference — usually vague — somewhere in the small print of their biographies.

The opposite is true where I live, which is farther south of the metropolitan area. Out here anyone who announces that he or she is a Democrat has little or no chance of winning. On the other hand, in Denver the same could be said about anyone running as a Republican.
